政府文件是指由政府颁布或批准的公文，其种类包括: (1)决议，(2)决定， (3)命令，(4)公报 ，(5)公告， (6)通告， (7)意见，(8)通知， (9)通报，(10)报告， (11)请示，(12)批复， (13)议案，（14）条约，等等。 

政府文件翻译，以中文翻译外文为例，首先要注意专有名词的翻译，例如，全国人民代表大会（The National People's Congress of the People's Republic of China）,最高人民检察院（The Supreme People's Procuratorate of the People's Republic of China）,最高人民法院（The Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China）等；其次，要注意中国常用或通用词汇与国际接轨；第三，避免直译，例如，绿水青山就是金山银山；第四，行文格式与所译语言习惯一致；第五，符合所译语言风俗习惯。
